This is the dearest song in the repertoire of Vani Jeyaram. In the professional female singers, after Vani, I have seen none handling tamil ghazal songs with ease. Chinmayee does offer some hope but I have not heard much from her. No complaints about male singers – Hariharan and Srinivas – are awesome.

It is pity that the two greatest ghazals that she sang were not original compositions by Shankar-Ganesh. Meghame was a straight lift from “tum nahin gham nahin” whereas this is a lift from “Main hawa hoon”.

But Vani’s versions had the wonderful uniqueness of sounding tamil and ghazalish. She was probably the first and the pioneer in tamil ghazal singing.

Adithi – your pronunciation is fine and rendition close to flawless. Pleasure to listen to you.

I listened to the whole song, can u believe it? well, but its just u and ur impeccable voice which kept me hooked……some modulations were more than perfect……havent heard the song as usual,,…….but as people say music is universal……

Hi Adithi- Good job on a timeless composition. This is one my all-time Vani jayaram fav’s. You brought back nice memories(incl the audio tape of this movie which I still hold on to as it is unavailable now). I particularly liked the care you took on landing notes and connection points in the sangathis…they ride a fine line indeed :)
