I have been suffering from a severe attack of flu(not the swine one) for the past few days that I have not been able to record anything recently (much to the joy of the neighbours!!!).
I had sung this song back in June and was waiting for Vivek to complete his part and send. Vivek, who is back after a long hiatus(hopefully this time), kindly completed it after getting permission from his fiancee! How nice of her! :)
I am so glad to be back with an ARR number! :) One of those “classic” undeserving movies where the music was a total misfit! I remember sleeping through most part of it and getting up during the song sequences!
A special thanks to Vishnu for adding the special effects to the voices!

OMG, this is my fav song. The have a really haunting tune and amazing feel. The base guitar and drums are amazing… ok… About Adithi, akka great singing… And you have managed to reach the notch…. You have managed to keep the pitch and sangathis with ease… Amazing…
About vivek, he really have a nice voice… there are some difficult areas where he slipped(1:33) which is not at all a big issue. Have done a great job too… I liked his vivek’s improvisations @4:20

This is a very difficult song to render. Thank you so much for this post. This is the first time I am hearing this song in other voices.
Vivek: Nice attempt Vivek. I feel you should have sung with some more energy. Don’t be careless while singing with Adithi as she always dominates the other singer who sings with. A few places were clear evidences that you struggled to sing this song. And the nuances of SPB you tried to bring in looked unnatural eg.’Athuthaane nee solvathu’
Adithi: You have done a good job as usual. As you u guys here always compare the rendition with that of the original, I can say one thing. ‘Thidukkitathey’ at some places sounded as ‘Dhidukkitathey’. Your expressions were really good. You have sung the phrases ‘Ennai inba thunbam seiguvatho’, ‘unnodu kattikkollavo’, ‘theno’ so beautifully. Please keep posting your lovely renditions… All the best for your future renditions…

Adithi…. you are on a roll!! Fabulous! There seemed to be some small shruthi slips, but your handling of the brighas more than made up for that…. I love it when people emulate Chitra’s brighas without totally imitating her either. Improvs super :)

Superb singing both of you. As mentioned above there were slip offs but both your voice in the song has given the apt feel that’s needed. Lovely. I also liked the slight laugh of vivek’s , which is always SPB’s effortless expressions in many songs :)

Great pick guys. Was addicted to this song once upon a time. I thought you guys did a good job considering how difficult the song is. Adithi, for the most part you were excellent. There were some areas that could be better (for instance the high notes, u really sounded stretched). Vivek started off a little shaky, but picked up after that. 5/5 from me.

What a terrific song to pick! Great job Adithi n Vivek.
Adithi- Kalakkiteenga… Absolutely loved it! One place you sang ‘alaipaayum saaral’ but its ‘jadhi paadum saaral’ I believe, it makes sense too right.
Vivek – Very nice singing. Few places were mind blowing like those smiles in between, ‘yesunadhar katru vandhu veesaiyadho’ tat ending… Simply great!

Just had a respite and listened to this latest update (yet to listen to lots of muziboo updates which I will most surely do soon!). Very nice pick to sing … this movie was hailed for its innovative music and song picturisation in 1999 as most know. Arvind swamy and Isha Goppikar look good as a pair, unlike so many couples that bite the dust in tamil movies (totally unmatched I mean!).
Hey good singing both of you but did not sound natural to my ears, considering this is a romantic number – not a classical one!. I think this is a song where the nuances (ala sangathis) are intricate yet to be delivered with subtle romantic maturity!. To my ears the way you guys approached it was a bit harsh and for the most part rendered it like a rigid classical number. Would have come out better if you guys had approached it with more ease and smoothed over the sangathis with some romantic breeze!. Gentle does it in such songs … even the highs should be strong only for a couple of seconds and the rest just easing down like the rise and fall of soulful passion!.
Some minor offs and over stress of frequencies were also noted, once again allied to the style more than anything.
A number fit for a magician … you know it but you hide it well … a bad trick is born if it is laboured.
Fine going anyhow both of you on a “tough” song and you should feel proud!. Hearty Congrats!.

coming back to the song……it is a very good attempt of an abstract kinda song…….felt the flow over all could be better….otherwise enjoyed it.

Adithi,thanks……Just to clarify……my comment was on over all package……the track sounded very FM’ish and on which your vocals,which sounded way better than it,refused to blend smoothly……there by affecting the ease and pleasure of listening…….I liked both your singing very much,barring slight thinning at high notes……sorry that I did not mention it in the first place.
On another note,the counter point in the ending pallavi was quite fascinating…….I always wonder how people deliver it in live situations,w/o getting it distracted by the other vocalists…….takes a helluva practice I guess.
