I am sure each of us have a set of songs which we can relate our feelings and emotions to. Not just the lyrics but the tune, the mood it creates, the impact it has on you long after you finished listening- everything adds up to the magic of the song. This is one such song for me.
The movie was a total flop commercially but the music is probably one of the finest pieces of work in Tamil Cinema and created waves. The song is definitely in one of the 10 best solos from S.Janaki in my humble opinion. I was searching for this song for a very long time and the search suddenly ended when I unearthed it from the internet.
Somewhere in the middle of the song (“unthan raja raagam….”), I broke down……
My most sincere thanks to Balamurali Bala for offering to mix this song. He perhaps saved you all from listening to a terrible mix! I couldn’t believe my ears to see how beautifully he had merged the track with my voice. You have a heart of gold, Bala, for spending such precious time on this mix! :)

All your thoughts on this being one of SJ’s best solo’s is fine, but let me tell you….this rendition had Adithi screaming from all corners!
And I think its unfair to compare every nuance to SJs and see what is missed and what matches… :) Its yours, and your singing conveyed the meaning of the words well! What more is required? :)
Balu, superb mixing….I mean it sounded good on simple laptop speakers, am guessing it sounds even better on headphones….that’s my next round… :)

While I congratulate you and wish you all well on the 100 the upload, I request you consider a re-rendition of some portion. Almost every jeeva"ne" ending is suspect where the gamakas and landings seem off. Your natural ease in rendering sangathis is not in full glory though. There are places like “nyaabagam” where u seem to have struggled to reach the right note. I will wait for another round of this song if you choose to do it. Thanks.

Congrats on achieving this inspirational feat… I am really happy on seeing this monstrous growth of yours and could relate to my mind-set when Brian Lara broke the record set by Hayden scoring 400-run in Test Cricket… :-) Just got a spark about this as my fellow pals have mentioned about Sachin’s record in ODIs… Test cricket needs patience, temperament, persistence, intelligence, perseverance and strong armoury compared to ODIs… You have got everything but not the opportunity yet…. Praying that u should go places very soon…. (Am a die-hard fan of Lara and so brought him to context here… Also am a south-paw…)
This song would surely be instated in the list of favs of any female singer…. My mom still fights me if I try to switch over to some other channel when the songs of this movie or the movie itself gets telecast… And the sound-tracks from the movie are impeccable and fresh till date…. Lyrics are befitting to the songs and this song in particular brings out the mood eloquently… SJ has literally sung from her heart, I would say…. Nice song pick for the 100th post and again I congratulate u for the song pick….
‘Tham tham ….’ was uttered in a hurry as the tempo was high… I feel u couldn’t give a smile while enunciating it cos of the tempo… Sometimes the rendition itself goes hay-wire if some of the technical parameters are imperfect… And so, are the succeeding lines before u start, ‘Naadham En Jeevaney’…. ‘Jeevaney’ – ending notes were off… Think Bala has added fade-out effect there which has contributed to it…. Not sure though… And I need to accept that the feel you carried through-out this song is impeccable… Some songs which stay nigh to our hearts would have had a strong imprint on our sub-conscious registry and would sometime affect the flow in delivering the nuances when the tempo or the scale is tampered…. So is the case here, I think…. You have been gifted with a voice which has got a very commendable range either way… Quite unusual to see some strain at few places but I do understand that the tempo has cornered you to rush… Thoroughly enjoyed this rendition which has intrigued me to ink these…. Hope to see you achieving so many feats and be successful in music and life… My sincere wishes and prayers…. Thanks for sharing this cover, which is so special to you…
P.S: Since this song is also my mom’s all-time favorite, played this for her… She was very happy on listening and broke up for a while and asked me to convey her wishes and blessings….

@Suresh- Thanks for your comment! I am not sure if you listened to “Engiruntho” before this one- that may have influenced your thoughts. Not really sure. But to the best of my knowledge I have pronounced the words as I do with all other Tamil songs. About the choice of the song, I never choose songs for public appeal but only the ones that are close to my heart and that I enjoy dinging. This is one such choice. It is stil la magical song to me and hence the choice :). Any way thanks for your thoguhts.

Hi Adithi….this song is a tough cookie to crack. And you have done a wonderful job. Congrats on your century!
Some nitpicks: Although I thought that the song delivery overall appeared a little bit rushed – especially the opening lines in Mohanam with the same tune as Poovil Vandu.
You were able to bring out the crisp bhaavams like Asha Bhosle in Abhi Na Jao Chchodkar and Vani Jayaram in Ezhu Swarangalukkul, without compromising your original voice. Intha song-la Janaki amma maathiri illai – was expecting close to it. May be some lower frequencies need to be cut out? Don’t know. I am not that good at mixing anyway.
Congrats once again on your century! As a few have suggested, if you ever perform this again, make it the 200th song! Just kidding…
