I consider it my good fortune to have born in a musical family that nourished the finest sense of music in me! Much has been said in several of my posts about how much I revere Mellisai Mannar MSV and his unparalleled contribution to Tamil Film Music. This is yet another opportunity for me to show my respect for this living legend!
I was a child of 7 years when he visited our house to see my grandfather. I remember singing some song that he, out of politeness, said was very nice! Fifteen years later, the “Naalai indha vaelai paarthu” that I sang in front of him evoked the same polite but more frank opinion. But the thrill of singing in front of him still remains afresh in memory and makes me yearn for yet another opportunity to show him that I had improved a bit since then.
“Thanneer Thanneer” is one powerful movie by K.Balachander depicting the miseries of an entire village in Tamilnadu that is suffering due to utter water scarcity. I still remember how the very last scene showing Saritha’s expressive, inundated eyes never failed to jerk a tear each time we watched the movie.
This song is a folk style lullaby! One needn’t even know the language to appreciate the pain in this soulstirring number of yesteryears. A mother’s cry to hush her little one to sleep……A perfect companion through those lonely, worrying nights that wait for dawn to dispel darkness……
I made the track for this song by myself. As usual, Hari Bhaskar has mixed it for me- Thanks a ton, Hariji! :)

Enna oru prelude…and what a follow through with a gentle aarariro – lullby. Very touching to the core of one’s heart. Amazing.and in awe…and deep respect for your upbringing in such a blessed family and to have met of the most significant soul and event that happened in tamil music/film industry. :) Am sure ippo MSV gets to listen he would smile and pass on his very best:) Prayers always. Excellent Adithi … liked it. All aspects were well done and I think this is tops for me amongst all your renditions.
I do have a suggestion on the mixing: your vocal volume needs to be increased to project your voice well above the rhythm in these type of songs. Some words were not clear for me bcos of the mix I think.
Superlative rendition and it really felt like a folk girl singing it … a bit more volume for your vocals would have driven this right home for me!.

beautiful musical composition from Great MSV !, and exceptional singing, Adithi. speaking of MSV, may i mention that his first guru in music was my grand uncle ? yes ,being very poor, he stayed in my tarawad (maternal ancestral home)here, in Pallikkunnu, kannur, kerala , during his childhood years and learned karnatic classical from my uncle neelaandan ammoman, in gurukula style, before moving elsewhere… I do not know if many know of his kannur connection….
