Jotheyali(Kannada-IR)- with... Lyrics & Chords
Just in time for the Maestro’s birthday….but for a change in a different language! :)
I still remember the day I watched this movie on Doordarshan- Bangalore. I remember my uncle getting so excited when it was announced before the start. My grandmom immediately pulled out her prized National Panasonic and inaugurated a brand new Sony cassette(which my cousins got for her from the US)by taping the entire movie for the amazing BGM score and songs! Those were the simple yet happy days! :)
I am so happy to have been born in the grand days of Ilayaraaja’s crowning glory. I am fortunate to have heard some of the rarest of his songs and been able to appreciate the beauty of music unparalleled in history.
Here is a tribute to the Maestro on his 67th birthday from me and Vishak! Once again, I am so happy to singing with one of my favourite singers. He fell in love with the song when he heard it! To me, this song is special beyond words! Although I completed this song way before Christmas, it is seeing the light of the day today after nearly 6 months!
My most sincere thanks to Vishnu for mixing this song amidst all his work :)
Please do let us have your comments and suggestions. And thanks for listening! :)

Vishak , VERY VERY NICE !!! Full marks to you….Coz , you have tried to make up things in grand (small small SPB’ism here & there). At both the charanams , u were just sounded like SPB sir in his younger days….Congrats….

Lovely composition by the great IR and how can one not listen to this song!. Out of the world orchestration fully justified in this track of yours … awesome!. Track just a bit slow but what the heck … was enjoyable!.
Adithi – liked & liked – very nice to hear a good style improvement in this one … of course it is a stylised song and you did well. Your voice was good in this and you carried the expressions quite well and was too good in places. I am indeed happy to see this improvement in you and in my opinion the best light song I have heard from you. Thanks for making my musical soul happy!.
Vishak – man… you have a laid back cool voice if ever I have heard one … doesn’t seem to get strained even at higher notes. Liked your voice quality and the way you aim at preciseness could be felt and heard. The humming part b4 1st charanam could have had a better progression in terms of its build-up and finish; I think the energy there did not come across to me and there was some hesitancy in the delivery. Also watch out on the ending syllables of words that conclude lines; there is a bit of drag there and makes it sound a bit unnatural especially for this snappy kind of song … I think you need to employ style-cuts to make you sound even better. But Vishak … this is a very good showing of your talent and good going … all the best!.
Enjoyed!.

This is a majical song. This is my most fav song in Kannada of Raja’s. Of course, the song originally was tuned for the tamil movie Nooravathunaal. If you hear the composition of viziyilae(tamil version of this song), there will be a tint of mytery, which is the genius of Raja coz Nooravathunaal was a hardcore thriller of those days :).
Not an easy song. Has ton amount of sangathis but still have to sing in style with giggles and stuff. Who else can pull this off except SPB and Janaki. Massive Legends.
Adithi – I loved your voice and your style, which the song demands. You’ve done very well and maintained the flow of the song beautifully. A great song pick and a perfect dedication to the Maestro.
Vishak – As usual, very clean singing. In your own style, you handled the song nicely but I felt there was not enough charm that was needed for this song. I think you just kept low profile, instead of attacking it with stylised singing :).
Maestro Isaigyani Illayaraja – Guruvae Saranam & Namaskarams. Enna solradhu. “Many More Happy Returns of the day.” Vaaztha vayadhillai, Kaal thottu vanangugiraen. You’ve made us Indians so proud and you are truly god’s gift to Music lovers, all over the world. I’m happy to have lived the majority of my life hearing your music. Raja has always said that the Music needs to be simple but have to kindle the soul. Wow. What a statement. I think Raja’s Music has exactly done that and there is truly no comparison to Raja’s achievements and knowledge of Music. Seriously, there is no need for his music to be recognized through Oscars. I only hope that the world awakes and gets to know this genius and starts beating themselves for being ignorant of masetro’s stupendous works. Raja’s music has to be preserved and there should be a place for “THE MASTER OF MUSIC” in all the major Music Museums around the world.
LONG LIVE RAJA Sir.

Dear All,
thanks for all the comments. From all your comments, I get the feeling that my part could have been a little better….will do better next time.
Also wanted to thank Adithi for waiting……this song was to be completed sometime early this year and it took forever.
Finally, I am glad that we could release it as a dedication to Raja without whose talent, there would have been a black hole in South Indian Music during the 70’s till the 2000’s.
thanks for listening

Vishak u got a very pleasant voice, i like it.
Never do i look for what others comment, do find in yr renditions u fall short in expressing the feel, just get involved and forget the world…….When i listen to U people sing, i forget the world….bindas singing and dancing!
Usually avoid putting across things which may discourage the singer, JMHO, hope u don’t mind, else u have a very rich voice, must culture it more that is all. Liked it dear.
vishnu u r a helping and kind soul with yr mixing skills.
