Ei Madhuraathi- A Bengali song
Ei Madhuraathi- A Bengali song Lyrics & Chords
Please listen to an enhanced version of this song here
If you have already read Ramya Harish’s post today, you can probably skip the story part of this song- exactly the same! :) And we hadn’t even spoken to each other before, so didn’t know that we had the same thing in mind! Great minds think alike????
Exactly a year ago, Murali Venkatraman introduced me to the amazing works of Haimanti Shukla. Instantly, I fell in love with her voice! It was not just the free flow of subtle nuances (you could find atleast a few intricate ones in each line!) but also the mood she so vividly captured in all her renditions that even a non-Bengali could relate to that made me listen to her songs again and again.
This particular song was my favourite from the bunch and I had promptly learnt it within a day of listening to it. The sangathis used to drive me crazy but I thought I managed to capture atleast a semblance of the inimitable original.
But then I waited and waited….till yesterday, to sing and post this song in my blog! I was trying to get the lyrics sorted first with my very good friend, Sumit Da, who has helped me before with numerous such Bangla lyrics. I was trying to work with Shampak Chakrovarty, a very talented musician whom I met in Muziboo, to correct me on the diction and delivery of harkats. All this within a few hours yesterday. Even as I was trying to do the mixing, I got this text from Sumit Da to correct just one word which we were unsure of! So this song made it from the Editor’s desk to the page just in time! Of course in spite of all that hardwork, I would still have made mistakes. Please do bear with the same graciously:)
Shampak and Sumit Da- Thanks a million for putting up with my immense pressure to get this done in only a few hours! I owe you both a pint someday!!!
I did not have the idea of posting this in Muziboo but eventually changed my mind after a few good reviews. There is no escape now for me!!!
No gimmicks, no k-track, just unplugged- sincere and for the love of Haimanti’s divine voice!
And , oh yes, Happy Birthday, Murali! :)

*Had I been blessed by the God with a boon, I would definitely go for the redemption of your younger days when you had a fire to accomplish something in music and I mean it.* Immaculate, divine and purposeful rendition. Nice to see you gifting someone with an unadulterated etching of your vocal notes on silence. A Real bliss to have had such a chance to gift someone and the one who deserves your gift is blessed as well. No more comments. I urge you to start off your second marathon but this time with many cheer-leaders standing-by(that includes me too) Hope to see you soon on a different arena and wish that happens so soon. I favourited this as your other renditions and needless to say about this. A full 5/5 from me though I don’t really trust these temporal tolls. May God bless you soon with this wish of mine as I would urge him as well. :-)Had posted something what I felt after listening to this rendition. A novice attempt of transcripting my emotions into words. Can’t say those words as my comments as it would be of self-conceitedness. No issues in reposting the same as I may sound better now and there is a scope of improvement in my listening as well. :-)
P.S: I was the first one to comment before when it was posted. Again at the time, I pen down my emotions here, I am the first. LOl

RAJ.

I am very happy to hear you try this wonderful song of Haimanti. And thanks for the b’day note ! Haimonti’s voice is sheer intoxication and I am always DUI when her songs are playing in the bgm.
Not many can capture these many details adithi – certainly not me. There are a select few that I have known like you, Swati who have these fabulous ears to discern incredible details and also reproduce with enviable clarity as though effortlessly.
One of your best renditions ? Rather your best ? May be I am confused but ranks very high in aestheticism.
