@Vishak – loved your ‘aah’ before the 1st charanam. Was it done in a single stretch? it sounded very clear nevertheless….
@Adithi – lovely singing, in the second charanam, was all the breathing effect deliberate? I thought it must be, coz I’ve heard many of your other songs and you have such wonderful breath control… :)
The lastest ‘un mugam therigiradhu’…the ‘dhu’ part went slightly off pitch I think….maybe am wrong…

but its one of my fav Vasantha songs…thank you for doing such a good job of this one! :))

Thanks Adithi for doing this song with me. Although I am not a Kamal fan like u r, I do enjoy all the renditions of SPB in Kamal movies….lol

Rekha and Suku — I would be lying if I said i didnt use any cut paste technology….lol. i did have about 20 takes recording in full stretch and then edited using the best parts of each individual take. so finally for the alaap, i ended up using two files, one from 1:30 -1:46 and the other from 1:46 – 1:52.

Thanks again for such encouraging comments……sure does help.

Vishak – Superb singing. Very good job with the alaap.
Adithi – Very nice singing n nice expressions as always . Second stanza, felt ‘nenju poru’ didnt need tat much punch, its more like secret kinds ilaya. And song ending when u sustained slightly off.

One of its kind ! There can be only one “anthi mazhai”, absolute brilliant composition, a real gem. Loved the style of the song. It starts with a western/ Indian fusion and then slowly goes to hindustani in the interlude and the back again. Just wonderful !!!

Lot off ppl to congratulate, the person/team who did this karaoke, has done a great job.

Vishak, Top class singing. Sangathis and the flow was just really good. Soothing vishak. You usually capture the mood so well in these spb numbers and you did that flawlessly here too. Your hindustani piece in the interlude was top notch and loved the expressions. Only one minor thing, at the end of your alaap in the interlude your voice changed considerably. lost the continuity a lil bit. Looovvved your singing.

Akka, “Thenil Vandu Moozhgum pothu” – enna oru entry ! Antha vandai naan maarinen :D The female piece comes late in the song, its like rajnikaanth eppo da varuvaar nu restless a wait panra maathiri ! Vandha odane oru rush of blood …. pa kalakal ka …… There is nothing you cant sing ! Hope the music directors are listening !!! Pro stuff !

I apologize to Adithi for some of the comments on the breathing issues in her part. I should have had this discussion with her before I prepared the mix. I honestly thought that the breathing sounds were an essential part of this song to enhance the mood and the feel of the song.

Inspite of that, I beleive her part was awesome as always. Another thing I should mention with Adithi is her thirst for perfection. She always pounces on every opportunity to make rectifications in her singing whenever necessary. It is this quality that I admire most in her (apart from her musical prowess) and this is the reason why she is being genuinely appreciated by so many. kudos Adithi….lovely performance. Once again, I apologize for the slight mixing glitch.

Adithi and Vishak, Both of you sang well overall I thought … congrats on the cover of a great passionate song!.

Some comments:

Track: Sounded butchered! I am sure there are better tracks of this song available. A lot of dynamics were lost in what is a great orchestration. Definitely one of those “make your karaoke” software jobs that has yielded poor results!. Track presentation is equally important so take care … we should try to do justice to the music director’s music too!.

Adithi: 2:13 was a bit obvious. 3:49 “Konja” expression was a bit much. 4:17 ending seemed a bit off in holding the note. Overall good singing but could pay more attention to the feel … this song is total passionate feel.

Vishak: Bcos of the track being so bare, your humming parts (aaahs) sounded bare and singular. 2:27 from “Kettana iravugal …” lines had a drop in feel and didn’t sound right to me. But your understanding of the song was good and I really thought you did well.
