Pointers already given to you… Just something tht I felt… Am sorry if I am wrong… Please try to soften your voice when you sing tht aalaap, when you begin singing this one, cos your voice was sounding a lil too raw there… A soft melodious touch to it would have taken the song places! Rest of the song was really nice! You did a great job! Not at all an easy one to sing and you did a fabulous job I must admit…

Perhaps singing softer might have helped. But a good attempt nevertheless (Apologies for the honest comment!)

Srividya – Nice singing. Agree with the pointers mentioned above. You have a classical based voice… May be you can practice to sing with lesser throw in your voice and more feel…Please also practice with Tambura to improve on the pitching…. Or while recording with the ktrack, you can have shruthi playing in another track and sing listening to the shruthi too along with the ktrack….

First thing I did seeing this post was to search for the original and listen to it… :) and am completely bowled….couldn’t make out the singers clearly at all!
The male voice sounds mid-way between Unni (not KB here…:) ) and Karthik. But not sure…
The female voice has touches of Nithyashree, but its way too soft to be her, esp in the charanams….
Now I’ll be breaking my head over this song for next few days… :D

Good singing from both of you…Unni, your beginning rocked. Vidhya, your singing was well-cultivated, but maybe the volume should have been a bit more suppressed in the initial Alaap (I think that was the case in the original….its panned to the right and left alteringly, with lower volume…).
But very good job both!

In the original, I somehow didn’t like the alternate left right panning in the ending ‘Kanava…’…your mix is nicer! :)
