Jaane Woh Kaise Log The… Cover by Giridharan U.R.
Jaane Woh Kaise Log The… Co... Lyrics & Chords
Thanks to Muziboo, it gave me a lot of opportunity to listen to various kinds of songs rendered and uploaded by our friends of varied cultural backgrounds, but all of us united here on account of our keen love for music. Here I could listen to songs of various musical genres hitherto unknown to me and felt many such songs, though tough, were highly tempting.
One such song which recently attracted me a lot is this one originally appeared in the 1957 Hindi Movie Pyaasa. I heard it first time when our fellow Muzibian Anand ji: sang and uploaded the Hemant da version of the song a few weeks ago. Later I could get from the net a k-track of Jagjit Singh ji’s version of the song and I gave it a try. (The downloaded track is not a good one).
I know this song is too heavy for me with my limited singing strength and absolutely zero knowledge of Urdu. My diction may not be correct at many places. But still the love for the melody of this beautiful song gave me the strength and courage to sing and upload it here.
The meaning of the song (as I gathered from the Net) goes like this:
I wonder how those people exist
Who earned love for their love!
When I asked for (flower) buds,
All that I earned was a garland of thorns!
I searched for the abode of joy,
But I discovered only the pain of sorrow!
Desiring for the songs of love,
I could earn only cold sighs!
Clouded became my heavy heart
When I met another sorrowful!
Left away every friend of mine
after giving me company for a moment or two!
Who has leisure to sustain,
the hand of a lunatic!
Often I found even my shadow helpless!
If this is what living is, then
I shall live this way only.
Won’t even emit a sigh of complaint, will seal my lips
and swallow all my tears.
How can I fear sorrow now
when I have earned it a hundred times!
When I asked for (flower) buds,
All that I earned was a garland of thorns.
Hope you will listen to it and give your feedback.
Thanks.

I know this song by heart Bhai Giridharan. Never heard JS’s version but must have been a good Shardhanjli by him….and so is this one. You have reminded me of both Hemant Da and Jagjit Singh with such graceful singing. Thanks for singing this lovely sad song that still brings the joy of just singing it. Lovely lovely lovely.

Excellant selection of this song. As said by Muzaffarji i am also much femiliar with the original by Hemanthji. But I have the version of JS also. He gave his own style. Giri, you have done full justice to this beautifull song and remembering both legands.Thank you for sharing it.

Bhai Giri with decades of association with desi music I think you and I can figure out where it is an input and where a loss of control. You never leave me in that ambiguity. An input moderately done is more appreciated by me. My thanks to Anand Ji as well who invoked the urge in you to sing this one.

Wonderful, absolutely flowy and soulful, Giri! Actually, I’ve never heard the JS version either, this sounded more close to the Bengali style Hemantda version, esp. your glides. I think your vocal gain could be lowered and track vol bumped up for the mix, for optimal headphone listen. To favs!

Dear Dr.Giriji,
I enjoyed this. You are an excellent singer.
This seems almost lip-singing (throat and lungs not playing a role). Many malayalam songs are like that and sung like that, i believe, with a certain mild soporific effect. I am not sure I vote for that!
Cheers and regards!
