Most of the top 10 songs these days come with a heavy dose of orchestration….excellent beats ….jazzy bass guitar…….you hear the song and say ‘wow kya beats hain yaar’ and start tapping your feet !! Sometimes you do remember the lyrics too ! And there are songs also of our generation that get instantly recognized for their tune and lyrics rather than the “foot tapping” nature of the song. The voice becomes the sole feature rather than the orchestration ! One such song which i loved instantly is ‘Ek Meetha Marz’ from the movie ‘Welcome to Sajjjanpur’ . The song is beautifully sung by ‘Dooba Dooba’ fame Mohit Chauhan and ‘Kabhi Neem Neem’ fame Madhusree. Its such a beautiful tune that i am sure those who have heard it once still remember it !
I have sung this song with Vidyu who has already made her entry in muziboo via Joe’s account. She has done a wonderful job with her lines . Hope she joins muziboo soon :)
I hope you like our attempt. We have tried a few variations hoping it would still leave the flavour of the original song intact.

Soumitra and Vidyu,
Good rendition guys. Soumitra, well sung man. I thought the karaoke track had quite a few wrong chords which resulted in the vocals not blending in some portions. Also I thought you were not as comfortable at the low notes. Since Mohit Chauhan has a much deeper voice, your voice gave this song a totally fresh feel. Vidyu has sung this well too. Both of you had some timing issues. Was it latency in the recording?

Soumitra – I liked the rendition very much. I think your voice sounded so fresh that it gave the song a whole new feel.
Vidyu – Very good expressions and control. Awesome voice she has.

PS: I noticed timing issue when Vidyu started. But that was it.

Never heard this one before, thought you were a bit tied up on those low notes, but I like the song and the way you two performed, I also agree with George on Latency issues, but the mixing was awesome, a bit noisy while you were singing but Vidyus voice was crystal clear. Good job guys keep up the good work.

Yes found the low notes were a bit tough….the low notes go down to G3 and A3….which is pretty low for me….i could have upped the scale but wanted to stick at it to improve my range….believe me , it sounds better compared to the first time i tried it :-D Glad you liked the variations :)

Soumitra— you glided through the song, blessed with a soft voice which is perfect for songs like these. Agree with George that you did seem a little uncomfortable in low notes, but that didn’t take away the beauty of this simple song.
Vidyu— very nice expressions… :) The last aana— brigas very well done!

Soumitra,your voice reminded me of SP sir’s who sung so many songs of similar genre in 80’s and early 90’s. gr8 singing,keep it up.
Vidyu, wonderful expressions (Chalke palkon ke peeche chalke tanha aason koi- Wow !), very well controlled sining, cause its easy to go off-track in such slow tracks.
Overall…. just here or there… not-so-perfect low notes in btw…. but the high points in the song score too well and tat’s wat makes this song to my Fav list :)

Soumitra & Vidyu -i know am quite late here. Iam fond of Moitra’s work in general and espec in this movie and the song caught my eye.
Soumitra – Very very nicely sung by you. in fact i think i like this the best from you of what i have heard so far.
Vidyu – superb singing and a great voice! at certain places thought expressions were a bit overdone.
Overall, a sure 5.
