I started the Bengali Karaoke group and was looking to sing a bengali number to start it ! But thanks to the two B’s – Bodhisattva and Buddhabrata – its already under way :) Good to see some bengali numbers in muziboo. I hope more bengali’s here would try some lovely bengali numbers for all of us :) Even if there are any non-bengali singers who fancy a bengali song and want to sing it i can offer my help in the diction part. So pls dont hesitate.
This was an impluse recording a few weeks back ! Found the track and love the song so recorded it. This song is more popular in the hindi version sung by Mukesh – “Kahi Door Jab” . Hemant Kumar sang the bengali version of the song. Which came first i have no idea but i read somewhere that the bengali one was the original ! I have heard there is a tamil version of this song as well.
I have made a humble attempt at this number. Hope if you listen you like it :)

Very nice singing, soumitra…. flawless, to be precise…. somewhere, it reminded me of my childhood days when these songs would be playing all the time at home…. and also, those Puja Pandals at each and every turning, where the PA systems would be playing such songs…. miss those times….

Beautiful singing. Typical bengai style with that tremolo. I find that bengali songs usually have an extra tremolo factor except for very few singers like Haimanti and Ajoy.
I would love to try some haimonti and ajoy numbers. I would certainly appreciate any help in obtaining the karaoke and/or diction. Thanks.

Soumitra, Very melodious and beautiful rendition of the Bengali version of “Kahin door jab din” – Bengali is such a sweet language – the tremolo is also so dulcet to the ears. 5/5 from me!

Really curious about the lyrics….as far as I can tell, they’re not exactly the same as the Hindi version….don’t know Bengali well enough to figure it all out though….do explain a bit if you can :)
