Bio

Having a variety of life experiences is what separates Nightshade Records artist, “Shadow”, from all of the rest of today’s artists. Born in Des Moines, Iowa Shadow was raised partially in central Illinois and also North Carolina. In and out of trouble and running with people of a more “alternative” culture, Shadow took to the urban lifestyle and bonded with the love of hiphop music. “Carta” of North Carolina based C-Louchie Records gave him his first shot at getting his name known when Shadow moved to Winston-Salem N.C. in 2006. Through battles and various networking encounters with local artists Shadow began to rise through the ranks of N.C. Hip-Hop until 2007 when Shadow moved to Winchester, Kentucky which he calls “Rifle City” which gave him a country style to blend with his urban street mentality. Shadow began his networking again making friends with the townspeople and his listeners which led to his name circulating rather quickly. 2008 came around and Shadow released a letter to the Winchester Sun Newspaper stating hip-hop needs more recognition, and mentioned local recording legends, “Nightshade Records”. This earned producer Juan Greene’s, as well as other Nightshade Artists attention. Shadow continued to promote himself as well as Nightshade through various venues and hosting extreme sporting events as well as freestyle battles. He eventually earned the ears of most of central and western Kentucky’s hip-hop elite and Nightshade Records signed him into a 3 year contract with their label in winter of 2009. Shadow also plans to release his debut album Kentucky Kinfolk, featuring his hit song Boondocks, produced by Carta and mastered by Juan Greene in early 2010. Also to come in 2010 is “859 Clothing”, a spin off of lexington extreme sports enthusiast, Joe Wheeling’s clothing line, “Wheeling Pro”, which will be aimed at the urban youth as well as alternative lifestyles and carried in local stores. Shadow continues to evolve, ever-changing, and ever-growing.
