This is one of my favorite ARR songs. Got the K-track recently, and decided to spend some time. Fiddled around and edited a little to achieve a life-time dream – to sing along with Hariharan himself (sigh…).
The mixing of the K-track may not be very good, I may have mercilessly snipped of Hariharan’s line somewhere, sorry about that. As for mixing my vocals, I know it lacks something really important, but I’ve given it my best shot. It sounds a bit loud at places I want it to sound soft, but I’ve no clue how to bring in that effect… :)
As for my singing itself, again…I’ve sung this with a lot of reverence to Swarnalatha and ARR. Her voice is magical, and I’ve tried to achieve just one bit of that effect.
Taking the plunge and posting it here, would love to hear some feedback from all…

Agree with Neil… very nice singing with all the correct punches and jerks like the song demands! Liked it overall – could you only check on “Jaao Hu….mo ko to aati sharm hai” – landing notes on hai and high note on Hum seemed iffy to me… I could be wrong since I don’t remember the original too much.

Neil – this is a very melodious song, you must listen to the original sometime to truly enjoy it…I’ll send it across to you… :)
Sudha – yes, that part could have gone a little awry…coz, its kind of humming at the ‘Hum…’ I might have gotten a little overzealous here-there… :)
Satish – the start of the 1st stanza, I stretched one beat, and tried the lilting effect like the original…guess it didn’t come up that impressive… :)
And my mixing skills have got a long long way to go…:| hope to learn more…
Harshan – thank you, when you asked me to sing something which I can do the bold and open voice…I was reminded of this song, and decided to dare and try it once…am glad I didn’t mess it up all the way…

Nice mixing Rekhs.Nice singing too , I do agree its a tough song to sing.
In the last stanza some lines end abruptly eg ‘chodo na aisi baathon ko’. May be you should smoothen them out. Overall , pretty good.

Nice song and sung with a lot of feel. Critics have already been mentioned. But unfortunately, You did not enable the download feature for your songs. I want to download good songs sung by good singers. Please grant access.
You have good control over your voice but not at higher notes, or maybe I am a bad observer(you being trained in both classical and light music and all). Try to look into it.
Overall, just loved the song. Thank you for singing it.

Shyams – ya…something in both the 1st and 2nd stanza seem a little off to me…will chk out sometime again…
Biju – it is one of my favorites too, and I simply couldn’t resist and opportunity to try it…:)
Vignan – this song actually doesn’t fit my natural voice tone, or the other way round, I should say…so I’ve used some modulations. Maybe that didn’t sit very right with the higher notes…:) will give them a check…

Your scale seems to drift away on higher notes…. and that has to be worked upon…. The song will look good with a little more punch in your voice….
Btw this song sure does suits your style, and it just needs a little more practice….
I am not very sure, but I sense some kind of a strain in your voice while singing…. You could try a different pitch in future songs….

Sidharth – this song and its scale is actually not my natural tone and range, so I think offs are definitely there in my singing. This was like an impulsive experiment, because the temptation of an ARR song with Hariharan was too strong… :)
Will keep in mind the pointers about the scale for all future songs…

One view of mine…… Since u have retained Hariharan Ji’s original, it would have sounded better if u could have matched ur sound in the mix with Hariharan Ji’s.

@Harry – Actually, I had the proper K-track for this song, I simply copied Hariji’s parts from the original and substituted them into the K Track…
And I totally agree about the not-so-good mixing…not being good at mixing is one of the banes of life… :))

I felt dat in pallavi “humko” was not coming out nicely at some portions…
“Sharm hai” needs SHARM in yout voice!!
In d last “sharm hai” you almost succeeded also… But could have been sung better…
But the song was perfectly suiting your voice texture…!!

Welcome to my space Vaisakh, and thank you for checking out the song. The ‘hum’ part of ‘humko’ in most places almost touches silence, due to the stretch of that syllable, and so it tends to sound different or not clear many times…
and guess the idea of Sharm is differently expressed by different people… :)
