Dub Dub Jaave Dil Mera
Dub Dub Jaave Dil Mera Lyrics & Chords
I am attempting a Nusrat Fateh Ali khan song for the first time. This is a Punjabi folk song that he sang first time live in Paris. Punjabi is not my mother tongue so please excuse my pronounciations and my attempt to translate. This is a very simple tune with touching lyrics and it showcases Nusrat Sahab’s genius.
Dub dub jave dil mera, jadon yaad sajjan di aave(My heart sinks whenever I think abaout my beloved)
door vasende maahi nu koi jaake mod layaave
(My beloved lives far away would someone go and get him)
dub dub jaave……
dil da jaani kol naa mere naal kede main bola
(My heart’s beloved is not near me, who can I talk with)
ohde varga koi naa mainu kiss naal dil diya khola
(There is no one like him for me, who should I open my heart to )
tarle lai lai aakhan koi pesh meri naa jaave
(…………………………do not know this trnaslation)
dub dub jaave……
Kothe chadh chadh taakdi paiyan ohdiya raahva valle
(I keep climbing on to the terrace and looking at the path for him)
jaan waala je jhaati paunda meri saava valle
(if only the one who is going would have looked at my sighs)
kalleyan chhadd pardes naa jaanda kon ohnu samjhaave
(He would not have left me alone and gone abroad, who can explain this to him)
dub dub jaave……
Ohh kee russiya vela russiya, russ gayi kul khudaai
(now that he is angry with me, the time is also angy and so is the whole world)
kee dassa main daas nahi hunda, maar gayi e judaai
(What can I tell you, this seperation has killed me)
khavre bhulleya meriya yaada, ohnu kon bhulaave
(He has probably forgotten me, but how can I forget him)
dub dub jaave……
Dil nu kee samjhava loko, kalleya g nahi laagda
(what can I explain to my heart, I cannot live alone)
payar karan daa badla milleya, haasa baan gayi jaag daa
(I am getting the revenge of fallingin love, the whole world laughs at me)
ohde baajo khaali khaali veda vaadd vaadd khaave
(Without him the lonely courtyard bites me)
dub dub jaave……
Yaar bari je mud ghar aave so so shagan manava
(If my beloved comes back home I will celebrate)
seene de naal laake rakhan, palkan heth lukava
(I will hold him to mu bosom and keep him under my eyelids)
sach sayanya aakhya koi payaar palle naa paave
(Wise people have said correctly that do not fall in love)
dub dub jaave……

Lovely singing Rajeev Ji. Have heard this song from Nusrat saab. What a soulful voice he had. Lovely effort, nice expressions and your Punjabi was very good too, since I understand the language:)

Very nice rendition Rajeev.
As an attempt to sing a song of a different genre and language it is really laudable. Excellent lyrics which I could appreciate because of your English translation.

Rajeev bhai,
What a treat! I wish I could do 10% as much in Marathi as you can do in Punjabi. Perfect pronunciation and very clear rendition! Not an easy one to sing. I can imagine…. of all the singers Nusrat would be one of the toughest to sing.
I hadn’t heard this before but love it now. Great presentation. Enjoyed it.

Very lovely selection Rajeev. Bhai aap wahid Hindustani ho jo iss forum per itne zauq aur shauq se Pakistani fankaron ko praise karte hain aur gaakar isska saboot bhi pesh karte hain. Jab tuk bande ki khudki efforts na nazar aayein mazza nahi aata. Aap iss baat ka khas khayal rakhte hain. Very nice….enjoyed it.

Rajeev bhai…. I was thinking and you presented it…. I was thinking you should attempt Nusrat saheb’s “sanu ik pal chain na awey sajna tere bina” and you presented one of his gem here…. Nusrat saheb ki kia bat thi unke sound box ka koi muqabla nahi…. apne issey jitna “dub dub” ke gaya wo dil ko chhoo gaya…. ab apke tarle (requests) hain ke “Sanu Ikk Pal” ga den :-)
Best of Luck!!!

Very pleasant singing, Rajeev. Loved your husky texture in this song. Could not get the best ‘lutf’ of this song not knowing the language, but could tell your accent was perfect (yep, no southern accent there… ;-))
Enjoying all your variety uploads immensely!
