This track is slightly higher than the original scale, has a faster tempo as well. SPB’s singing and MSV’s music in this song was duly spoiled by the so called disco & bharathanatyam (and some physical excercise steps) combo dance by Kamal Haasan. Unfortunately, in those days there were no other good dancers like Prabhu Deva, Vijay, Simbu etc., and we had to put up with Kamal’s sEshtais :)) (nothing to offend the great Kamal because I love his dance numbers in Salangai Oli and Punnagai Mannan)

Here are the observation, song tempo is little fast, need to adjust for that, appuram little off note here and there, sangathis innam better’a varum ungalukku… need to try…

Gopi, I recorded this song again with the corrections you suggested and uploaded it. It was still difficult to follow the tempo of Thomtha Thomtha and is insanely faster in this track. Let me know if this sounds better than the previous version. Thanks for your inputs.

Excellent choice from the many great picks of my most fav duo (MSV-SPB)! Excellent throw in your voice! Some sangathis were different from the original but delectable. I do agree with Gopi about the precision of sangathis but it probably will take a lifetime for us all to match the original! :P…… The “Raakshasar” outdoes his previous rendition each time he sings it on stage!!!!Trult blessed to be born in the same era as these great men! :)

it happened for me to sing this to MSV at his home ……he smilled at me and pinched my cheek sweetly ….till date didnt know what he meant…lols.
excellent song ……what a composition ….balu at his peak time and came back from ilayarajas shell to brin out his old earned skills from MSV….see those details are all different from what IR gave to the masses those days, all MSV specific.

Sangathis-ai nAn mAthaNumnu ninaikkalai. indha trackOda tempO-la ennai aRiyAma mAthittEn :)) I listened to this song in youtube and was in for a mild shock when I listened to this track (basically had to forget the original and go along with the track :(( ) SPB sir always has high regards for MSV sir. In his recent light music show in the bay area (about a few weeks back), he sang Yamuna Nadhi ingE, which is one of my favories. When I met SPB sir a few weeks back in the dinner, I was mentioning about some of his great songs like Medaiyil Adidum, Pottu vaitha mugamo etc., for which I couldn’t find the karaoke tracks till date. I should search in Muziboo karaoke pages and if you come across any of those tracks, please let me know. These songs are gems and it would be great to sing those.

@Maruthi – Thank you for your appreciation. If MSV pinched on your cheek after you sang this song, it must mean that your singing was awesome!!! You are a very lucky man!!! How many artists get such an opportunity to meet the legendary composer mellisai mannar MSV? I’ve only seen him from a distance in a live concert in our home town, Nagappatinam once. Here are some of my favorite songs composed by MSV sir: Ilakkanam Marutho (performed this song once in a light music show), Sippi irukkudhu (Kannadhasan – MSV pair kAlathAl azhiyAdhadhu), mEdaiyil Adidum, vAn Nila, Kamban yEmAndhAn.
