Guru is a surprising action movie from Kamal that met the hollywood action movie standards back then. I still remember Doordharshan telecasting this movie and we all gathered in a house with TV (the only house with a TV in our neighborhood) to watch this movie. Kamal and Sri Devi are a very good pair and their screen presence, romance and action made this movie a block buster with direction by IV Sasi. Ilaiyaraja has composed music and its needless to mention that all songs in this movie were super hits.

SPB and S Janaki simply ruled in all songs. Endhan kaNNil, paRandhAlum vida mAtten, mAmanukku paramakkudi, Naan VanangugiREn, pErai sollava – all of them so good and very nice to listen even now. Kamal’s acting in this song is very good. The fireworks, kamal’s mother sentiment and kids running & dancing with SPB’s lively voice, Kaviyarasar Kannadasan’s lyrics and IR’s great music makes this song a memorable one. Again…a super song … from the yesteryears of Kamal……You voice had the required depth for the song, there was bit of air in the mix…Atha remove panna innum super’a irukkum… Kalakkunga !! I believe you have a good break….after the tiring work schedule…songs are pouring in….continuously…
