Amazing romantic song composed by Rahman Saab, Rashmi you sounded very good. It sounded as if like how Chitra would sing this, your voice is very close to her when you sang those charanams. I felt it little off when you sang Aye Hairathein at 3:22 to 3:29.

NVK sir, wonderful job by you, its hard to sing any song sung by Hariharan especially those brigas, harkaths. You did a good job.

You both were spot on the emotions. Keep doing more such duets.

This is a very good attempt (and fantastic song selection!) but I felt that it could have been better. I probably feel that way because you have set very high standards with your previous rendition. A faster pace and higher pitch might bring out the beauty of some minute sangathis and make the song more enjoyable.

Now clarifying Adithi’s point on the pitch and the tempo, it is just the same pitch and tempo as in the original. Exactly the same…. Yes the sangatis(harkatein) , may be slightly different in my case….But Rashmi was almost perfect accoriding to me….

Hariharan’s style is unimitable…there were few slippages in the sangadhis, precisely because of this…
The way hariji sings “jagaa mat” and “do chaar mahin se lamhon mein” is divine…i felt these places could have been better……

I am always of the impression that to comment you do not have to be an expert but you do need to have a good music ear and also realize the efforts that are put in by an artist to perform.

I congratulate both the singers on a good effort on the song.

Coming to my impressions of the song, I thought the female singing was slightly weak and needed more of getting the basic notes right. Sruthi was a problem on a few words.

The male singing was great but I would say had limitations and was not free flowing. It was very contained and was trying to imitate a lot of the original and surprisingly let me down than what I expected. I thought I also heard a few places where some breath control would have helped more.

I had expect something where the singers seem more confident and sing them more naturally than try and imitate. That is when you can do better than the original song. As Sonu Nigam said in an intervew, a singer’s motive should be “How do I make this song better?” … I am sure each singer would find his own way.

I would request for the singers to take time to re-record this song and post it as I believe these singers do have the potential to do more.

No offenses please! I was just expressing what I felt. If it is a problem, I can refrain from it.

Good singing guys…. but judging you by the standards that you have set, this is not your best…. To me the problem was the feel… I thought it could have been more expressive…. I felt at times that you were going through the motions. Rashmi, you were a little pitchy at times. NVK, your special touch was there as always…

Very good singing by both of you. This is not an easy song.
Rashmi, you have sung very nicely. I felt there were shruthi issues in a few spots in your vocals – ‘Bolo naa’ in the first stanza and when you sing Aye Hairathe Ashiqi before the 2nd interlude starts.

NVK, you have sung it well also – some spots could be better but those are the unique Hariji touches hard for anyone other that Hariharan to reproduce – atleast that is what I feel.

Overall I enjoyed very much. Thank both of you for posting this song – one of my favourites.

I was not looking for Hariharan. And surprisingly NVK did not look for Hariharan either ! This is a serious departure from his usual sincere capture of the original singer’s spirit.

NVK – Please sing in this style of yours. आप जिस तरह लफ्ज़ों को छूते हैं, जिस तरह उनको फेंकते हैं, वो दिल में जाकर बैठ जाते हैं | वो तरीका मुझको सीखना है आपसे |

Rashmi – sounding very melodious. Although I am no great authority in hindi pronunciation, I certainly can discern between bad and good diction. You certainly can improve in there.

Nice Singing……if I dont think of the original song then NVK sir is perfect but since it’s a cover song I would point out the differences NVK sir I would repeat what I had said before you sing in a controlled way and that kills the feel of the song and the original song has a different feeling the way Hariharan said Ae Hairathe Ashiqui is completely different from yours I am not comparing your voice with his , you have a great voice no doubt about tat but what I know is controlling your voice keeps you from bringing out the true feeling/beauty of the songs …"kabhee jhaankon " sounds so controlled , Hariharan did it with an open throw , same goes for ae hairathe ashiqui….it’s a tough song but you have sung it beautifully it would be lot lot better if you changed your style of singing according to the genre of the song….

Rashmi was great , I like her voice a lot and she did it well however it seems she could have done better , I dont know the technical terms used by other artistes , but I felt you could have done better. You have the voice quality which suits every/ every kind of song….

Ummm….I agree to George….Not one of the Bests from you guys….I can feel OFF notes at important place….Slow songs are very tricky as its difficult to match the speed you think a note and SING it….

Another collaboration should fix the problem….

First of all… Congrats for this recording. Great effort, I must say. I know you would take this positively (excuse me NVK sir, for I can feel the work you have done on this recording – especially when you actually start in this….), here are a few observations, very few :-)… Rashmi was great, but few pronounciations like – Jooton ke shehenshah (must have been “jhoot”)
Also, Picth seems to have been difficult.
The tempo is kept slow, why? If it was a little faster, it would sound much better….

I really appreciate this and wish you all the very very best……
