Manikya Veenayumayen_Malayalam Lyrics & Chords
Here is my sincere and first ever attempt at a Malayalam song. Thank you Saroj Ji for sending me the song, the track and lyrics. Furthermore thanks for your confidence in me to sing a Malayalam song which I had never imagined before. This song is out only because of your encouragement.
There are some alphabets in Urdu that sound similar as I hear in Malayalam songs but the structure and there use is entirely different. I had to literally brainwash my phonetics to get used to new words. I don’t understand the language but I am sure the lyrics are very meaning full as is this lovely melody, that is one precious addition to my music archive.
Please accept my apologies for the diction as I still don’t know what I have sung…Lol. I wish I had a Malayali friend sitting beside me and correcting diction right when I was singing and recording. I liked this melody as it reminded me of Talat Mehmood, my most favorite singer. The original by Yesudas is also in E as this presentation. Lyrics by: O N V Kurup, Music by: G Devarajan for Film: Kattupokkal. Hope friends enjoy this experiment.

Glad to comment first (hopefully) on this lovely and first ever song of you in Malayalam language…. well yes you could only dream of singing in that language but this forum made it possible. To me you sounded like a Malayalam singer but only natives can confirm where you erred in it. To me this song melody is same as any other sub-continent song…. I’d congrat you on singing this first ever Malayalam song and with that beauty. Keep sharing like that Naqvi saheb.
Best of Luck!!!

Thank you so much Wazif….I am also one of those who do not hesitate to be the first if an opportunity exists. Even though it was a different language but believe me it was fun to learn the melody and figure out how the words are rendered by the original singer. The lyrics did help but only to some extent as you know its difficult to extract the right pronunciation from words written in English.

I will sure Saroj Ji. I am so happy to read “very few diction problem” in your comment. It is enough encouragement for me. It was also fun with experimenting and inserting Urdu alphabets in the lyrics as I found different accents of the letters d, D, g and l in particular. Also it is more gratifying singing songs from friends choices than our own. I am glad to have received such response from you.

Waah… Welcome to the world of Malayalam film music – of a small state in the southernmost corner of this sub-continent…
For a first song, this is outstanding. Except for some diction issues, the melody and the tune have been excellently captured in your deep voice.
If you know that Talal Mahmood Saheb sang one Malayalam song in the movie called Kadal (of Ramu Kariat, the same movie maker of the famous film Chemmeen) and when I heard your song, I was reminded of his Malayalam rendition only.
I think what is more important for any song to sound melodious is to first capture it’s mood and feel and in that respect I can vouch Naqvi ji you have succeeded 100%.
Congratulations…
Kind regards,
Giri.

Dear Harshan thank you so much for your support. I am surprised if expressions came out well. I am willing to twist my tongue….Lol….and hopefully get better with words. Brother Tahy is a good example who has shown enormous improvement with Hindi/Urdu. I will in future try to grasp words from at least two different versions, original and some cover. It will take some time but I am sure my love for good melody will overcome my shortcomings. Thanks again for your support.

Giri Bhai I was 100% sure that all of my Malayalam friends would encourage and I was also sure despite my careful observation I would still not be able to say some words right but that actually encouraged me more. The main reason was its melody and I felt that each and every word in this song was knitted so tightly with sur and taal that I learnt the mukhda by heart. Though I don’t know the words but they began to come out with the flow of the music.
I have heard that Talat Sahab also sang one Malayalam song, I will search it and listen. How did he fared? Thank you so much for your appreciation and support. I am with good friends here on Muziboo.

Naqvi Sahab…… Kya Baat Hai Janab!!! Wow, you being such a poetry lover, I expected a rough translation for the lyrics BUT you sang it without knowing what you were singing??? We all love your vocals and you have proven to be the master ji for theory of music, singing, mixing and many other aspects so rendering in sur and taal is expected from you But how does one get the required feel without knowing the lyrics!! Our friends’ accolades for the maintaining the right feel is simply astounding to me but then you did have access to the original, right?
Wah…. Bahot Khub, Naqvi Sahab!! Great experiment…… Hat’s off to you Sir!! L+F without understanding what you sang, LOL

Mehta Sahab so nice of you to write the way you did. Good music when rendered with full sincerity is bound to capture hearts even when we don’t understand its lyrics. This melody reminded me of Talat Mehmood and when I heard the original (probably in Yesudas’s younger voice) it caught my attention right away. Yes Saroj Ji had sent me the original but I received two separate translations, one by Saroj and the other by Bhai Giri after the upload. I am so glad to have received such nice comments on my very first Malayalam song even with poor diction. The idea of sharing music with friends is so fulfilled for me with this song, but I will pay more attention to correct pronunciation in future. Thank you so much Mehta Sahab.

Ab mere manna yeh hai ki aapne Kannada gana hi bohat zabardast gaya tha diction ke nazariya se dekha jaye toh….

Naqvi Bhai……“VERSATILITY at its very BEST” !
Great choice of this award-winning Yesudasji song well-rendered with right expressions & feel which is not at all an easy thing to accomplish !
As my humble self always say, even great singers like Rafisaab, Kishoreda, Lathaji, Yesudasji & many others used to have diction problems which did not ever count as the rendition & background music are more important to music lovers who would never bother about small diction problems !
Hence, all of us just love to hear your mesmerising voice, lovely expressions & soulful rendition all of which are 100% available in this awesome upload of your good self as usual !
LOVED your rendition to the core & added to my FAVOURITES !
My most humble salutes to your good self !
Please keep on doing the good work !
GOD Bless !

Naqvi saab….!!!You are a singer of top class…!!! this song may look easy…but the expressions are most difficult to execute…i have been trying to sing this for ages and every time retire hurt…the first 4 lines specially are excellent …the timing and expression together make this song very difficult to be reproduced, yet it was like swallowing of sweet butter for you, and thats what amazed me !!!. the naughty diction only adds to the charm as far as i am concerned since i always give primary preference to melody and expression…as you have now proved your flexibility beyond doubt, more are in store for you, i will choose some terrific nalayalam numbers for you …you not only just rocked but rolled all over ….:)

All I had to do was to extend my hands for friendship and show my deep respect for our music and I am so glad I was received with open arms and love.

Thank you Chandrasekharan Ji, Srinivasan, Thinkal Ji, Dear Satheesh and Sheba You have all shown me a new perspective on how to comment. Vidhya main Menon hota ya kuch aur agar yehi soul hota tu gaata zaroor. Geet ki melody bohut achhi lagi thi aur issi bahne South Indian friends se kuch aur waqfiyat badhi. Achha laga aapko passand aaya.
