I am not very fond of Patriotic songs…I had prepared this song to be uploaded on Friday but finding some friends uploaded songs in remembrance of Republic Day in India I felt the lyrics of this Mehdi Hassan songs could well be taken into that context as my wish to establish better relations between India and Pakistan. Peace and Harmony. Khuda Kare Ke Mohabbat Main Ye Muqam aaye. Each stanza can be related to what Sub-continent used to be prior to 1947.
This song is from a Pakistani Film Afshan (1971), sung by the legendary Mehdi Hassan (May God make him well, who is sick and hospitalized in Karachi), Composed by Nashad and penned by Taslim Faazli.
Hope you enjoy this song which is in the scale of Gm.

Naqvi saab ,though i could not fully appreciate the beauty of lyrics due to the flooooency in my Urdu, i fully understand it is a well meaning prayer to almighty ,and sadly realize that we are bichde huwe children of same watan having same roots irrespective of any political demarcation that divided us…And the song is from Mehdi Hassan saab !!!I Pray that he gains his health back soon…

Such a wonderful song of Mehdi Hassan Khan saheb with his typical lower notes modulation with dangerous ending ones…. I’ve had a different karaoke of this song and tried it long ago but wasn’t satisfied with ending modulation especially on “aye” “hui” etc…. this track was different and supportive so I feel like you’ve been mentioning that Mehdi saheb’s tracks have been tampered deliverately, looks true though. As far as this song, I always loved his singing and somehow it reminds me my dad as his voice resembled him…. you sang it beautifully in all areas and it was a wonderful listening (almost 4th time now :-)) Just keep sharing like that Naqvi saheb and people will know what gems these wonderful singers have left for us.

You are so right, Sir. The lyrics gets more depth when thought in the context you mentioned above. Otherwise it sounds like any other gazal. Aur jab use Muzaffar ji ne gaaya ho to use chaar chaand lagna hi hain.

Naqvi Sahab, main apke introduction se bilkul sehmat hoon. Aman aur shanti ka rasta hi sahi rasta hai! Khan Sahab ka yeh geet mere favorite geeton mein se ek hai. Iske labz khoobsoorat toh hain hi par yeh geet Bhairavi per adharit hai jo mujhe pasand hai. Main bhi isse aksar gungunata rehta hoon, kisi din record bhi karoonga. Well abhi phir suna ye gana apka…. acha laga…. ye meragana ka track zara matha sa tha magar gayeki ko support karte hain unke tracks…. well Mehdi Hasan saheb ke covers bar bar sunte raho maza hi kuch aur hai aur unke apne geet to na puchhen…. aik do ghazals to aisi hain ke sari raat bhi sun lo charm wohi rahe ga jo pehli bar main tha.
