Leo requested me to sing this lovely Pakistani oldie almost a year ago and sent me its track. I was surprised at his choice and was wondering why he would pick such a song and that too in female’s voice. Here is my attempt at this song but now Leo is no where seen on Muziboo. I hope he listens and leave his humoring and smiley comments which he usually did on my presentations. The track was prepared by my friend, an intelligent arranger Shahid Kamal. The scale is C here.

Dear Leo bouhut achha laga meri wajha se tumne yehan ka rukh kiya. Iss geet ko gane main jan boojh kar der nahi kari beshumar dafa gaya laikin yar ajeeb mushkil geet tha kabhi awaz theek nahi nikalti thi tu kabhi harkatein. Typical female vocal texture ka gana hai male voice main badi care ki zaroorat thi. Tumhari khwahish thi issko tu zaroor poora karna thaa. Bohut achha laga tumko passand aaya. Yehan bhi tumhare chahne waale maujood hain kabhi kabhaar aate raha karo. Comments likhne ka shukriya….tumhare comments se halka phulka mizzah milta hai aur lagta hai kisi apne ka diya hua hai. Uff!!!kya gana hai aapne kya gaya hai…. Leo ka bhi jawaab nahi jo aapko aisa gana de diya. Aur aapne is bohat sayyam se 1 saal tak bina isse dilchaspi khoye lagatar seekhte rahe aur akhir mein itna achha product market mein laaye!!ek ek harkatein aapne bohat samajhdaari se liya hai. Dear Mushtaque apna Leo female singers main already bada popular hai….Lol….Issi bahne usski absence tu khatum hueey. Bohut achha laga tumko ye geet passand aaya. Sahi kaha tumne female singers ko gane ke liye kuch alag he feel lani padti hai….kuch guzara hogaya warna Noor Jahan ke geet normal se aik kam scale main hote hain laikin usske bawajood unka high male voice main bada low maloom padta hai. Uss waqt ke singer apni natural scale main gaate thaay aajkal ki tarha nahi ke zabardusti bohut low ya bohut high gayein. Take Care….abhi tumhara upload sunna hai.

Well I’m surprised too that why would “apna Leo” like such a song whereas he has been singing KK or KS songs mostly…. but great to know our generation (including me) started liking these gems…… so here we listen to your lovely singing of this difficult in sur Noor Jahan “shahkaar”…… wonderfully covered Naqvi saheb and track also made beautifully by Shahid bhai…. crisp and clean recording and full of expressions. Just in my own opinion, on some spots if you hadn’t break the note and continued it the way it was going, would’ve made it feel more better but anyhow…. wonderful upload Naqvi saheb…. just keep sharing these gems like that. Dear Wazif thank you for such nice comments. Noor Jahan songs are not complicated sur wise in general. The toughest part is to maintain the breath along with modulations and harkats and avoiding the cracks that begin to show up because of low notes. Only Noor Jahan had that texture where she could deliver low notes and listener believe it is a high note. This is one reason her songs appear very simple. Anyhow glad you liked and enjoyed the song.

Thank you Bhai KB so nice of you. JS while on a tour to Pakistan was asked as to how he feels about Pakistani music? His response was….What Pakistani music? It is the same as in the Sub-Continent….like any other Hindustani music. For reasons I find myself lucky to have enough exposure to not just Bollywood music but from Pakistan and some Bangla as well. All the creators for this song were Hindustani before migrating to Pakistan. I am glad to have introduced this song to you and will hopefully keep doing it in between Indian songs.

Welcome Zubair Alam Sahab. Thank you for mentioning about my voice and singing. Voice is God given so I can’t say anything about that but yes singing has considerably improved over time and practice.
I am open to suggestions….always. I record in a small room where echo is almost at a minimum and nobody else does recording for me….I do it myself, so any flaw is my own attribution. The room has wooden floor, hardboard walls and roof and the mic is almost placed in the middle of the room so as to receive minimum of vocal reflections. The Reverb you hear in this song did not come from room characteristics but was deliberately added using a Reverb processor. Home recordings have certain defects which amateurs like me try to hide with the use of such processors. How much reverb is enough is a personal choice and I may have added it too much could be discussed. This is something that I try to accomplish by comparing my mixes with other professionally recorded material using my hearing devices. I am still learning and trying to polish my recordings and mixes. I would welcome any suggestion which can improve my presentations. Thanks for being here but my sole purpose was to remind listeners of this Noor Jahan gem.
