A good attempt Maruthi.
Shankar Mahadevan captures his entire audience with this song in his live performances. His energy is very infectious.
That kind of energy is lacking here. There were some off-pitches at the high registers.
But thats ok, you have done a pretty good job at such a tough song, even with the cold.

Hi Maruthi ….very nice attempt ….the energy could have been a little better……but overall you sang it in your own style ….liked it. I was fortunate to be friends with Shankar and also perform with him on stage during our college day celebrations….when he was 17 he had 10 years of carnatic singing behind him. An excellent vocalist …he used to get gold medals at all high profile music meets …. Mood indigo/vibrations ….very jovial guy. I follow most of his songs ….How about Manithulli Manithulli from Sangamam.

Your voice sounded very different in this one Maruthi – may be due to the cold.
Very good singing of this tough song. Liked your open throated voice in this one. Few minor off notes here and there but kudos to you for attempting this song. Completing the chorus parts (seemed very low volume in the track) would have enhanced this performance. Get well soon.

Hi Maruthi, Good attempt.Beginning kannil varum could have been softer with more feel. I missed tat ‘ohohooo’, ‘mmmm’(in charanams), cud hear them feebly sumwhere. Endings of manasukkula sadugudu n the next line and corrsponding lines in 2nd charanam were off. High notes cud have been sung with more ease.

Great Attempt, Maruthi:) There were few nice variations in the original which u missed… as others mentioned, the rendition lacked energy…Overall a pleasant rendition of a tough song! Keep singing!

Its a tough song man, kudos to you for attempting this song even when you were not feeling well. Loved your open throated singing…. I missed those Oooo, and some other chorus parts which I believe adds to the beauty of this song, you could have done those chorus parts, it would have added nice feel to it. Mixing could have been better.
