SDM has kindled mixed emotions in me – I am not sure if the narrative style is either Arty or Commercial or a mix of both.

It is difficult to decipher why this movie attracted “Global Attention” .

Yes – the movie has elements of “rags to riches stories” and “successful emotional love stories”

But there are flaws too

1. The hero looks too well groomed to be a SlumDog/Illiterate/ChaiWala
2. The elapsed time between Zanjeer movie (1973) and Call-Center Era (2002) is almost 30 yrs or more – but the hero is only 18 years old
3. The show host ridiculing a naïve looking contestant based on his economic status/profession in front of a Live audience is just impossible – even bad-mannered host will obviously act like an angel on screen at least to keep his post.
4. The blind beggar boy knowing the name of “Benjamin Franklin” is unimaginable – also not all goons know the name of the inventor of “Revolver”
5. Native Hindi speaking slum dwellers transitioning to speaking good English does not appear natural

Certain happenings in life are beyond reason like SDM winning “4 Golden Globes”. Probably it is DESTINY.

As a matter of fact, ARR’s success story is more convincing to me than SDM itself.

As an Indian I am proud of the fact that ARR has won “Global Recognition” – but I think he has done better work in other projects.

ARR used all his wits when working with people like Mani Ratnam/Ashutosh – on projects like ROJA, BOMBAY, JODHA AKBHAR, LAGAN etc

For SDM ARR just used his divine intuition to accept the offer and just be a part of the lucky team. He did not do anything extraordinary for this movie.

In a way ARR is destined to win the “Golden Globe” and SDM just happened to be his aide.

Agree with SS that “Jai Ho”, is not his best. Atleast he had a chance to expose his talent to the world. And i read in one of his interview saying " He got the Oscar not because it’s the best music of the year but he has given suitable music for the movie"! Amazed by his humble interview….

Btw i like the “Pussy cat dolls” cover of the song than the original song…don’t know why?!

Felt really proud when he got the Oscars and when my collegues asked me about this, i was proud to say he is from our State and ofcourse our India!
