I consider myself a hobbyist of electronis trying to do amps ,eqs and mixers when I was yuong ….and provoked by good music coming out from my sound machines……the first recording I made was in a 4 tracker which I designed and constructed myself before Fostex cameup with such an Idea…….I grew up with gadgets around me came to my hands for fixing them when I was only studying 5th standard……I had a good ear for sound and tones….then music kicked in when I was 9 afer that nothing went in my head………I went on hearing a broad spectrum of music ….from raaga , reggae to rap….now I can sing…play keyboard …play rythm instruments……guitar ( classical ), and also fix almost momst gears in the market fr making music. I havent learnt anything from anybody as I couldnt afford its purely a relation between music and me no mediator inbetween. So now as a musician……I concentrate more in compositions than singing. I do expect my renditions to be perfect but I have never done one such thing before. My advantage are: I can almost play and sing anything straight out of my mind. It takes me not more than 10 minutes to fully understnd an orchestration down to synth oscillators level. I can understand any instrument and can grasp its skills in short duration and can play it quickly. One example is my guitar leads in three weeks time as a fresh to start guitarist. Good sense of rythm to melodic relation upto complex levels. Understand different genres and appreciate good music of any kind. disadvantages : Havent started sheet music yet… Always tend to improvise even in live playing….somtimes listeners get distracted. concentration on singing lacks a lot. HOw can I capture too many tunes comes at once in my head…I just go nuts… I need to memorize any tune in my head before playing it live as I couldnt follow notes yet. I am practicing it now. let me know what kind of musician I am…… Thanks for muziboo for tleast bring my talent for music out.

It is strange that there has not been a feedback yet here. Let me start it.

Maruthi: The reason I came to your page today is simply because I was unconsciously humming “adada…adada…idhudhaan”…which led me to “jum jum” and I suddenly realized this is not a song I normally hum. I shook my head and recognized that it was your composition !

That should tell you what I think of you. You have a great potential to create hummable tunes. Your greatest asset is your imagination. I can still remember “unnai allaal” without having to listen to it for example.

But, your biggest negative is your impatience. You have created many songs but most of them have off-scale singing. The only parallel that comes to mind is making an awesome recipe and finally adding a handful of salt. Why ? As a composer, please ensure that people would come and listen to you some more times. If you can pay a little more attention to the singing or rope in who can sing better, it increases the beauty and also the collaborative effort. That is the only negative I have seen in your work.

Maruthi,

I never knew you were an electronic hobbyist as well….Interesting coincidence.

Musically-You have been brilliant most times and ordinary some times.your arrangement and choice of music instruments have been very good.

It amazes me to learn that you played Orey naal lead in 3 weeks-Thats instinct I guess.
Being naturally blessed has its disadvantages too….some times one does not consciously review it at a mind level -that was witnessed in some of your uploads.

Overall-a good musician-I am happy to be friend with and know

Regards,
Subbu.

Thanks Murali, for mentioning my impatience ……that is a perfect comment on me….I will try to do more justice by colloborative efforts. Subbu , I have played the ore naal lead guitar ( the female vocals onlt ) not the chords I am only capable of playing carnatic style leads as my guitar tuning is like violins….I had only couple of months of guitar self training at that time of recording. thanks for taking time,

Maruthi, You are a multi talented personality. I have only heard ur recent compositions which were quiet enjoyable, just that they seem to be incomplete in some aspect. It would be nice if put more effort and present a solid package. Will catch up your previous compositions sometime, have nt heard the songs Murali mentioned. But I heard ur rain song only once, and was humming it a week later.
Your initial paragraph s greek n latin to me, I mean those electronic gadjets.
About your singing, you can do brilliantly if u concentrate more, you have mentioned tat too n I understand composing holds a higher priority for you.

Looking forward to lot of good music from you, Good luck:)

Cheers:)
