Sarojedthi – I love this song for Geeta Dutt’s voice and the lyrics….can bring tears in anyones eyes. I want to share a story here, long time ago when I used to be in Mumbai…we used to have get together in our society during Jan 26th. One of the good singers in our bldg sang this song, half way thru the song we could hear an uncle in his late 40s ….sobbing like a child. At the end, he mentioned that this song brought back some sad memories of his only son amidst 2 daughters who had passed away at the tender age of 3…thats what waqt does. In short super song to attempt. There were some minor pitching issues, but this really touched my heart and also the high notes were song with a lot of confidence. ……just loved it very much. People like NVK sir , Thinkal sir are not only great singers….but they have a very big heart like the legends….great dedication to NVK sir.

Saroj, this is one of those songs with so deep an emotional content and context. One of the best of Geeta Dutt.
When this song was recorded Guru Dutt and Geeta Dutt had distanced considerably( Hum rahe na hum, tum rahe na hum). And the interesting irony was that the song was picturised on Waheeda Rahman the cause of their split. But the greatest irony of fate was that after a few years Guru Dutt went through this context in real life after Waheeda deserted him. Both Guru Dutt and geeta Dutt got addicted to alcohol and passed away at the prime of their creative lives!
You have recaptured the emotional nuances of this song-Congrats!
