What a marvellous voice you have! In some places, I felt you weren’t quite confident in your rendition eg. the bhavam in the bit from 1:59 to 2:40(is it madhyamavathi?)could have been better.

“Moha roopini” gave goosepimples….

The starting lines were exactly similar to “Kudajadriyil Kudikollum”. Could have changed it a little. The later parts of the tune very much enjoyable. Like many have said, Akshara and Vidya roopini could be pronounced correctly. And Krishna Raaj has a melodious deep voice that can be perfected by more practise, so that all the curves can be tighter and more precise.Rahul and Krishna Raaj, very good work. Keep it up

You definitely have got a very good voice Krishna. The base notes and the middle notes are beautifully highlighted. Some places I relished are “mahaamaaye” (2:19), “moharoopiNi”. Some places like “sur saayi” (1:19) could have come a bit crisper. And it is a pretty intelligent composition as well, keeping the listener guessing about the next note.

Also I was wondering if the chords towards 2:38 were appropriate when the tune returns from a R2 based ragam to R1. You could have used some power chords or suspended in stead of the majors. If I am not wrong, this is a pretty standard procedure in Bhajan orchestration. And to quote Jose puthoor – a guitarist friend of mine who has played with all lead singers of India :the power chords and suspended are predominantly used for bhajans to ensure that the flow of song remains unhindered. Many ragams in the Indian classical system require them, due to many adjacently placed notes"

Rahul: AkshararoopiNi – that is a good imagination. aalasyam dhoore akatti nee uNarvu nalgu – Have not heard a devotee pleading the God to remove his laziness. These two are pretty new thoughts in lyrics !

I agree with pradip ji about the similarity….but its a chant kind of start ……actually I think even “kudajadhriyil kudikollum” is a chant lifted out from IRs composition …….which was played on K.Balachandars banner “agaramudhala ezhuthellam” on his every film….if kudajadhriyil is proffesionally lifted ….what we are hearing from krishnaraaj for a composition sake is acceptable…….

But sure its a noteworthy point not to repeat a already heared parts in originals compsitions.

Super song. Considering that the composition and rendition were done in a shot period, it is truly wonderful. Awesome lyrics too!!
I think the beginning lines are meant to be a prayer chanted rather than a fresh composition, isn’t it? I am not sure who composed that tune first, but its a tune used mostly for a lot of laghu sthothrams during daily prayer.

Sorry for such a late response to your scribble Rahul. I’m not too regular in Muziboo.
Very deep voice as everyone said. Nice singing too. Compositionally, I’m confused about the song :) Its different in that it is unpredictable as Murali said. But aesthetically, I think it didn’t appeal that much to me. But when it comes to composing its easier said than done esp given the fact that I don’t compose much. So, overall this is commendable.

Hi Rahul, recd ur scribble. I should have been clearer: for eg., the transition from “Saraswathi” to “roopini” was not smooth to the ears…. and the shift from Mayamalavagowla to Madhyamavati again felt abrupt…. The last one (Kanakangi?) was unconventional…. good one at that!
