My sister had this grouse that I generally sing ‘sad’ songs, so she wanted me sing a happy oneg for a change. So I recorded ‘Likhe Jo Khat Tujhe’ and was about to upload it when my friend called and reminded me it was the great Madan Mohan’s birthday (24th July). So I changed plans and recorded this ‘nazm’ from the film Ghazal, as a tribute to the legend. I was not happy with my effort, and decided that I should try my best even at the cost of a delay. So here it is almost 6 days late, but hopefully the delay is worth it!

Good singing Harish ji over all….there are some minor off notes and uneasiness at higher pitches. What is strikingly lacking is some reverb….song appears to be very superficial without any depth……good song selection and attempt anyways…

Harish, great song pick. The mukhda was sung very well, you covered pretty much all nuances…but felt that you were holding back a bit in the anthra’s…could have been more open throated ….overall nicely done….thumbs up !

@Harry Jas, thanks! Yes, I did not use any echo/reverb. My natural voice I feel is anyways thin, and I was afraid adding effects wd make it thinner. I wanted the ‘wajan’ in the voice to bring out the pathos/sorrow. Not knowing Nuendo didn’t help either :)

Harish bhai….you will not compromise anything on the mix if you sing Khulke :-) The only thing you need to take care is that you step away from the mic a bit when you go high, this will ensure that the levels are balanced out….try it out.
