This is one of the most inspiring songs of bollywood ever. Written by late poet Janaab Mazrooh Sultanpuri sahab, it forces you to rethink on your frustations of failures in life and infuses fresh energy to foget the past and look forward. I still nostagically remember college days when I saw this film in university auditorium with classmates. Sung by Kishore da in his immortal style on composition celebrated Lakshmikant Pyarelal duo, this is my one of the most favourite numbers of legendary singer.

Liked your rendition a LOT, especially how you soared with the highs of “O Rahi-i-i-i”, usually singers get off-sur in those high sustaining notes (“i-i-i”). The modulations (in between “aise” & “koyi”, “apni” & “dhoon”, “chal” & “dil”, “manzil” & “tujh ko”) were superb. Nice work!
Suggestions: a softer rendition would have brought out the ‘philosophical’ emotions little better, I think. The throw on each word was slightly ‘punchy’, making it almost sound like a casual, jovial number, thus taking away the subtle delicateness of the song.

Just wanted to clarify the point I tried to make here. A KishoreDa song could very well be a ‘soft’ one too. He used the whispering technique at many places too (Chhukar Mere Man Ko, for one). Yes, every singer comes with different qualities in their voices, I agree; however, it’s the singer who modulates his/her voice to set the correct mood (or to bring out the true sentiment) of the song.
Just my own opinion.

Excellent pick, Dr. Sridhar. One of my fav songs. That’s the reason it caught my attention. Well sung. You could do much better with the right modulations. Each word of this song needs to flow smoothly from the previous one. You seem to lay stress on each word. I hope you got my point. Anyways, enjoyed listening.

A lovely rendition truly…with a loving rendition…and the cuteness of our dear immortal Kishore da. Such a treat to listen to any of his songs even if one has not heard one it always spells something unique. You captured it so well.

Very nicely sung – thoda aur reverb effects dalna tha is song mein. Par awaaz bohut hi achcha aaya hai.
Improvements ke hisab se ye kahunga ke is gaane ke lavz free flowing honi chahiye – thoda kadak lag raha tha.
Ye zaroor kahoonga ke maine ye rendition bade maze se suna. Good singing – Kaabil-e-taareef hai.
