“After a bit of a gap, I got hold of this racy track and started to gel with it … and so here it is … Namma MSV/SPB paatu from the hit movie Ninaithaaley Inikkum.
The track is not the original but does the job pretty well and at a tempo which is slightly faster than the original. If you like spicy dishes you might well dig into this one!!.
Here is a little riddle: MSV has very cleverly composed it in a scale that you will not even guess initially, because of the racy nature of the song. Can you identify this raga (scale) name? Both north and south classical have their names for this scale.

Hey Subbu, I do agree the guitaring in the original is much better. This is a Pentatonic Minor Blues Scale. The root note of this particular track is C#.

- Ramya, You were quite close with Sudha Dhanyasi which is also a pentatonic scale … see below for the right answer!.
- Hi Krishnan … glad you liked it … the recording was with my home setup only … changed my sound card so am happy to hear that it sounded good.
- Murali … thanks … and you are right!! It is Hindolam which is a pentatonic raga and MSV has used it in a rock/blues/jazz style … now people are using such things for fusion when he has done it so long ago!! Sheer genius!
- Janhavee…yes it is a Rajini movie … in fact I think the last movie where Kamal and Rajini acted together!. This song was right up Rajini alley, another very gifted man with his unique style!.
