Surprised myself by completing a recording today!. Usually I go into slumber mode … but it was good to give the throat a workout … hope not too much of a workout for your ears!.
Not sure about who is the Music director for this one… whether MSV or Shankar-Ganesh?. You can fill me in if you know!.
Anyway a try on this emotional number about a classical dancer who the hero is in love with I presume…I have not seen this movie.

Hi Kaushik, Thanks and glad to get your comment. Oh ok, Shankar Ganesh….yeah they had their time with some good numbers in the late 70s early 80s. SPB sung very well for them to make them hits. Mixing this was not that easy due to the dynamics and I think it has come out well from your feedback. Thanks.

You song selections are always a treat to hear. Once again, a famous pick from SPBji’s collection. Damn good a performance, you have given in this song. Professional singing and mixing as always. However, would like to point a few minor things in my honest & humble opinion.
“Mozhiyo…aalaya sangoli” looked off-pitch to me. Sivaranjani…humming has one variation in which the notes goes down and then up. Don’t know how to explain in musical terms. (ha…ha…)
Thorougly enjoyed your cover and I would give 98/100 Sir barring those two points above.

Beautiful to listen was a total treat. As others have noted Sivaranjani does stand out and speak for itself…so emphatic about this song. Very beautifully emoted. I listened to your rendition a couple of times and enjoyed the nuances and breath control !!!

I have a permanent sinus prob. which means my throat is like potluck from day to day. My recordings are literally a battle with my throat each time!. Wish there was some solution (no pun intended!). shankar ganesh is an amazing musician. unfortunately tamil world forgotten him…thinking of taking an initiative to bring back his all songs here as a season or a festival kind of thing…but no idea on how to organize…

Sukumar, thanks for your special comments. Yes Shankar Ganesh had some good songs in his hay day, especially good beat songs. I recently happened to see him perform in the 40D Directors programme on stage in a DVD … quite a guy even at this age, with all his gold chains around him!. I shall try to dig up more of his songs. First of all, thanks for picking this song and delivering it very well. Very well sung. You’ve got a great voice. This is one of my favorite songs that I recently performed in a live show. I never thought there will be a karaoke track for these songs.
thEnmozhi and punnagai, ninakkindRadhu, piRakkindRadhu sound different from the original but nothing to take away. You seem to have improvised the song in a lot of places and its very nice to hear them. Liked it.

This is well sung Arvind. One thing I like in your renditions is the clear diction. Sangathis in “illai” were very nice.
If you are looking to perform good S-G songs my suggestions are:
1. cheppu kudam thookki pOra
2. oru kaadhal dhevadhai
3. mazhaiye mazhaiye (from Amma)
4. pattu vaNNa rOsaavaam (I think this will suit your bassy voice)
5. pani vizhum paruva nilaa
6. naan unnai nenachen
7. naan kattil meedhu kaNdEn
8. avaL oru pachai kuzdhandhai (not sure if they were the ones who created it)
