Hi Muzibians, A subject which keeps scratching me inside since very long, by certain off line feedbacks I am getting, regarding my approaching Indian music, as a non Indian. I have never liked the feedback I am getting to be hidden, so, since this particular side of it has not come on any of my songs, the way I am getting it on a more or less personal way per e-mail, not necessarily in the most diplomattic manner and also not from a valid address from someone who at least I would like to ask an apt oppinion about it. Have thought hundred times before bringing this into a public webplace. Agree I am not doing good job, thats long ago fixed from my side. Its just the joy of singing which brought me here, not the run for a career, as I was never the type for it. You all know, how kids just love to play with things belonging to the grown up ones, just because is “not allowed”, and therefore the joy is more intensive, trying to become Yourself like that; – ( I can still remember how mom’s make up box has always been a fascinatting matter, especially when I could mess it up nicely). :)
Now, my question is, does one have to give up, or loose the joy and motivation of singing, just because the style he or she approaches, does not belong to his/her culture? Is it really insulting trying to manifest Yourself using one field in which, no doubt, there are always people doing better?
Am not running after incourages, as, end effect, this is a self management only, but, before I go for any radical decision, would like to have justified, apt and professional oppinions on the subject, (not on my songs, style, singing or personal values). Thanks

At the end of the day, Every artist on this site should understand that Music is “MUCH” bigger than any individual artist. Similarly, the listeners should also understand the same and appreciate others for doing their best irrespective of their race, nationality, culture etc etc. For such people, If appreciation is difficult, then unnecessary criticism/discrimination of any nature is an act of cowardice.
Adina, My advice to you here would be to just enjoy, have fun in your own way. Criticism from such elements should be ignored and should never be taken to heart cos the only person to get hurt in that process is you. Think singing like an act of devotion to God which we do without asking anything back. We do it because it makes us happy and calm. Just keep doing what you are and wish you all the best in your future en-devours.

Adina Galani ji, I enjoyed listening to your duet “Raj Kumar” with Naqvi Sahab. I looked at your Bio and your year old discussion issue. I want to add my views to it.
I was really impressed with your singing ability especially belonging to a different culture altogether. I was shocked to find that some negative kind of persons is trying to limit you from singing Indian songs.
Every human being no matter what color, cast, creed or culture has the ability to imagine whatever he / she likes. One can imagine flying anywhere in the whole cosmos, freely, nobody would even know. Now, that is a fact of life. Similarly, one is free to sing whatever he / she likes. Birds and animals also sing. A frog sings (croaks) on a rainy day and it sounds so romantic. Even the negative persons can do that if they come out of their deprivation. Just pray for them.
I am not worried about you; rather I am impressed with your courage to bring this subject to public forum. You, yourself have proven by continuing to sing up till now, hence the discussion on this subject stands closed.
Just one more point about negative persons. Day and Night complements each other as the opposite of each other which makes them prominent and recognizable as different entities. Negative persons are also there by design, by the Creator, for the same reason. Let the Creator judge the negative people and we should just pray for them.
There are as many paths to God, as there are souls on earth.

Just saw this thread, Adina! I have to follow what you are trying to say here, but I think Music, as rightly said, transcends all boundaries. But people may have defined interests in certain genres. Its absolutely commendable that you sing songs to such a high degree of professionalism and perfection.
Coming to the nature of feedback, I commiserate with you – you request Constructive feedback for the singing, and not for your personal approach or whatever at it, taking your nationality or other factors into consideration.
Just have fun, and enjoy the Joy of singing, and listening. Remember though, this is an open forum, and people have their styles of commenting. Take the best ones, and don’t worry too much about the rest. :-)
And yes, experiment with all genres, and stretch your capabilities to the fullest!
