I’m having a tough time with barre chords. My index finger keeps muting the 1st or 2nd string. Please give me some tips to play barre chords.

Mahindhar,
when u play barre chords, make sure that the palm of ur left hand does not stick to the back of the guitar neck. there should be a distinct gap between the center of your palm and the back of the neck. also, when you barre the first finger, make sure that the finger is exactly parallel to the fret. both these things are important. practice this posture till you are comfortable with it. never ming if u cant hear the chord first. it’ll take a while, but in the end u’ll be damn good!

Mahindar….In my experience i would say , tis just practice !!….i have ,after lots of practicing, can now play a few barre chords without muting….i too would be glad to know if somebody can offer ways or techniques to practice these chords!!
